A richly decorated temple beside the Raohe Street night market, dedicated to Mazu, the sea goddess widely worshipped across the Taiwan Strait. Founded in 1753, its six-storey main hall is crowded with gilded carvings, painted beams, and dragon-wreathed columns rising toward an elaborate coffered ceiling. The temple anchors an annual Mazu pilgrimage and festival that fills the district with lantern-lit processions. Its glowing facade at dusk, framed by the market's arched entrance gate, is among eastern Taipei's most photographed scenes.
