Beside Strasbourg's cathedral, this museum preserves the workshop and original sculptures created for the great church over the centuries. Its rooms hold weathered medieval statues brought inside for protection, along with stained glass and the archives of the masons' lodge. A collection of Upper Rhine painting fills the upper floors. A distinctive detail is the survival of the original architectural drawings for the cathedral façade on parchment, among the oldest such construction plans preserved anywhere in Europe.
