Often called the Protestant cathedral of Strasbourg, this hall church with five naves of nearly equal height is a rare surviving example of its kind in the region. Its restrained Gothic interior contrasts with the grandeur of the nearby Catholic cathedral and reflects the city's strong Reformation heritage. The church houses an elaborate baroque mausoleum sculpted for a marshal of France, a masterpiece of eighteenth-century funerary art. A historic organ once played by a famous composer draws musicians and pilgrims alike.
