This large Baroque church in the old town of Lviv was built in the mid-eighteenth century on the site of an earlier Dominican foundation. Its oval plan is crowned by a tall dome, and the curving facade with paired columns dominates a small square in the eastern part of the historic centre. Inside, sculpted saints, gilded altars and a soaring interior create a theatrical Baroque effect. Long used for worship and later as a museum, the church anchors one of the most photographed corners of the UNESCO-listed old town.
