Located on Old Kyiv Hill near the site of the ancient city's earliest settlement, this museum traces the region's past from prehistoric times through medieval principalities to the modern era. Its galleries hold archaeological finds, weapons, coins, folk costumes and religious objects gathered over more than a century. The building stands close to the foundations of the tenth-century Church of the Tithes, one of the oldest stone churches in the land. Exhibits are arranged chronologically for a compact overview.
