This art gallery in central Kaunas displays a wide-ranging collection donated by a Lithuanian emigre collector, spanning European painting, sculpture, porcelain and applied arts. Housed in a purpose-built modern pavilion beside a plaza, it presents works from antiquity to the twentieth century, including old master paintings. A large nude sculpture on the square outside became a well-known local landmark. As part of the national art museum, the gallery adds an international dimension to the cultural offerings of the city's interwar centre.
