This white modernist church crowns a hill above Kaunas and stands as a monument to Lithuania's interwar independence. Designed in the 1930s, its construction was halted by war and occupation, and the shell served as a radio factory under Soviet rule before completion after independence. The clean geometric tower and rooftop terrace offer a wide panorama over the city, its rivers and surrounding hills. As a symbol of national revival and a leading work of modern Lithuanian architecture, the basilica draws both worshippers and sightseers.
