The principal collection of Albanian visual art, this gallery on the main boulevard of Tirana holds paintings, sculpture and graphic works spanning from the 19th century to the present. Its rooms are especially known for extensive holdings of Socialist Realist art produced under the communist regime, offering a striking record of that era's official aesthetic, alongside earlier icons and works by national painters. Temporary exhibitions and a sculpture garden supplement the permanent displays.
