House of Leaves

Officially the Museum of Secret Surveillance, this institution occupies a building in central Tirana that served the communist secret police as an interrogation and eavesdropping centre. Its exhibits document the methods of surveillance, informing and repression used against citizens during the dictatorship, displaying hidden microphones, cameras, wiretapping equipment and personal files. The rooms recreate the atmosphere of the security apparatus that monitored the population for decades.
