Tâmpa is the forested mountain rising directly above the old town of Brașov, crowned by large white letters spelling the city's name. A cable car and a network of hiking trails lead to a viewpoint that overlooks the medieval streets, Black Church, and surrounding hills. The slopes form a nature reserve rich in wildflowers and home to occasional bears, and the ruins of an old citadel once stood at the summit. The short but steep ascent rewards walkers with the best panorama of the Saxon town below.
