An outstanding example of Polish Baroque architecture, Krasiński Palace was built in the late 17th century to designs by the Dutch-born architect Tylman van Gameren. Its main façade carries an elaborate sculpted pediment by Andreas Schlüter depicting the exploits of the Roman ancestor claimed by the Krasiński family. Set beside a landscaped garden, the palace later served state functions and today holds special collections of the National Library.
