Videy is a small island in the bay off Reykjavík, reached by a short ferry and known for its history, birdlife and open landscapes. It holds one of Iceland's oldest stone buildings, a former manor and church dating from the eighteenth century, along with the remains of earlier monastic settlement. Walking paths cross the grassy terrain past art installations, including a luminous memorial that projects a column of light into the winter sky. The mix of heritage, contemporary art and coastal scenery makes the island a distinctive excursion.
