Hallgrímskirkja is a Lutheran parish church in central Reykjavik whose stepped concrete tower, rising 74.5 metres, was inspired by columnar basalt formations found across Iceland. The church is the tallest building in the country and its observation deck provides a panoramic view over the city's multicoloured rooftops and the surrounding bays. The façade is a distinctive landmark visible from most of central Reykjavik.
