The Sun Voyager is a large steel sculpture on Reykjavík's seafront resembling a stylised Viking ship or skeletal boat, set against the backdrop of the bay and distant mountains. Created by an Icelandic artist and installed in the early 1990s, it is often interpreted as a dream vessel and an ode to discovery and hope rather than a literal longship. Positioned along the popular coastal path, it draws steady streams of visitors, especially at sunrise and sunset when the light catches the polished metal.
