In the Plainpalais district of Geneva, this museum traces five centuries of watchmaking through the private collection of one of the city's great manufacturers. Its galleries begin with sixteenth-century enamelled and jewelled timepieces before turning to the pocket watches and wristwatches for which Geneva became famous. Benches and tools show how the mechanisms were assembled by hand. Highlights include musical automata and some of the most complicated watches ever built.
