One of the most important art museums in Spain, this collection occupies a former seminary building beside the old riverbed gardens. Its galleries are especially strong in Valencian Gothic altarpieces with gold-ground panels, alongside works by masters such as Velázquez, Goya, and El Greco. A striking blue-tiled dome crowns the historic structure. The museum traces the development of painting in the region across many centuries, offering a comprehensive survey second in stature only to the great national collections in Madrid.
