Tucked into the narrow lanes of the old quarter, this church combines a Gothic structure with an exuberant Baroque interior renowned for its densely frescoed vaults. Thousands of square meters of ceiling paintings depicting the lives of its patron saints cover the nave, earning it comparisons to the great decorated churches of Italy. A recent restoration returned the frescoes to their original brilliance. The modest exterior gives little hint of the overwhelming color and detail that fills the interior.
