This large brick arena beside the main railway station was completed in the mid-nineteenth century, its design inspired by ancient Roman amphitheaters with tiers of arcaded galleries encircling the ring. It ranks among the most important bullrings in Spain and hosts events during the city's major festivals. An adjoining museum traces the history of bullfighting through costumes, posters, and memorabilia. The neoclassical structure is a notable example of nineteenth-century arena architecture.
