Michelin House in Chelsea was built in 1911 as the British headquarters of the Michelin tyre company, in an exuberant style that mixes Art Nouveau and early Art Deco motifs. Its facade is decorated with colourful ceramic tiles depicting racing cars of the era, and stained-glass windows portray Bibendum, the rotund Michelin Man, who also appears in mosaic on the floor. The building later became a design showroom and restaurant. Its whimsical decoration makes it one of the most charming commercial buildings in London.
