Chapter I · Greater Accra Region · 20 places
Greater Accra Region
A fishing village beach west of Accra long associated with West African drumming and dance. Its lively palm-shaded shore is a popular weekend escape from the capital.

Central Region
A tropical rainforest reserve in south-central Ghana protecting one of the last fragments of moist lowland forest in West Africa. The park is best known for its canopy walkway — a series of rope bridges suspended 30 to 40 metres above the forest floor — offering an elevated perspective on the forest's upper layers and the hornbills, forest elephants, and bongo antelopes that inhabit the interior. The forest's dense humidity and ambient sound create a distinctive sensory environment unlike any other site in Ghana.

Chapter III · Volta Region · 9 places
Volta Region
Built by the Danes near the coastal town of Keta, this fort was tied to the trade in enslaved people in the eastern Volta region. Erosion from the sea has swallowed part of the structure, leaving a haunting ruin.

Western Region
A village built entirely on stilts over Lake Tadane, reached by a one-hour dugout canoe ride through raffia wetlands. Residents trace their origins to migrants from ancient Ghana, and daily life — school, church, market — all happens on the water.
