Montmorency Falls drops 83 metres on the Montmorency River just upstream of its confluence with the St. Lawrence, making it 30 metres taller than Niagara Falls though far narrower. The falls are accessible from both a lower suspension bridge at the base and an upper cable car terminus, with the two viewpoints offering dramatically different perspectives on the volume and spray. In winter the continuous mist builds a natural ice cone at the base that grows to 30 metres or more by February.
