Highway 99 between Vancouver and Whistler, commonly called the Sea-to-Sky Highway, traverses 120 kilometres of coastal fjord and mountain terrain along the eastern shore of Howe Sound. The route climbs from sea level at Horseshoe Bay through the sheer granite cliffs above the sound before ascending into the Coast Mountains. The Shannon Falls and Stawamus Chief provincial parks, both roadside stops, rank among the most visited natural sites in British Columbia.
