Bo-Kaap is a historic neighbourhood on the slopes of Signal Hill above Cape Town's city centre, known for its rows of brightly painted Georgian and Cape Dutch terraced houses. It has been home to the Cape Malay community for centuries, and the Auwal Mosque — South Africa's oldest — stands at the heart of the district. The steep cobblestone streets and pastel facades make it one of the most photographed streetscapes in the country.
