The seat of South Africa's national legislature, occupying a complex of buildings beside the Company's Garden in central Cape Town. The oldest wing, opened in 1884, is a stately Cape colonial structure that has been extended over the decades with later chambers. Parliament has met here through the colonial, apartheid and democratic eras, and the precinct includes statues and monuments to national figures. Guided visits allow the public to view the debating chambers, though a major fire in 2022 damaged parts of the historic complex.
