De Waterkant is a historic district on the slopes above the port of Cape Town, a compact grid of narrow streets lined with restored Cape Georgian and Victorian cottages painted in pastel shades. Once a mixed working-class quarter linked to the nearby Bo-Kaap, its small terraced houses were renovated from the late twentieth century into a fashionable residential and design area. Cobbled lanes climb between the colourful facades toward views of the harbour and Table Mountain.
