Lake Brienz is a 14-kilometre lake in the Bernese Oberland fed by glacial meltwater from the Haslital, which gives it a characteristic turquoise-blue colour. The southern shore rises steeply from the water, with forested walls and the occasional waterfall descending to lakeside villages. The town of Brienz on the eastern end is known for its wood-carving tradition and hosts an open-air museum at Ballenberg nearby.
