Mürren is a car-free village perched at 1,638 metres on a sun-facing terrace above the Lauterbrunnen Valley, accessible only by cable car and cog railway. The village faces directly at the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau across the valley, a composition available simply by stepping outside any building on the valley-facing side. Traditional timber chalets line narrow lanes that have changed little in character over a century.
