Zermatt is a car-free mountain resort village at 1,620 metres in the Mattertal valley, directly below the Matterhorn. The village combines traditional Valaisian timber buildings with world-class skiing infrastructure, including access to the Klein Matterhorn cable car reaching 3,883 metres. In summer, an extensive network of hiking trails spreads across high-alpine terrain above the treeline.
