Folegandros is a small, steep-sided Cycladic island southwest of Santorini, with a clifftop Chora of medieval character perched high above the sea. The Church of Panagia sits on the very summit of the cliff above Chora, reached by a stepped path and offering unrestricted views across the southern Aegean. The island's relative isolation, limited accommodation, and absence of an airport preserve a quieter atmosphere than larger neighbouring islands.
