Sifnos is a Cycladic island in the western archipelago known for a culinary tradition considered among the richest in the Greek islands, with slow-cooked clay-pot dishes particular to the island's pottery-making heritage. The hilltop Chora at Apollonia connects with several surrounding villages along a network of old footpaths lined with stone walls and windmills. The Chrysopigi monastery on a rocky promontory connected to the coast by a narrow causeway is one of the most photographed landmarks in the Cyclades.
