A large terrace on the south bank of the Arno in the Oltrarno district of Florence, Piazzale Michelangelo provides the most accessible panoramic view over the historic centre. The Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, and the hills of Fiesole beyond the city are visible in a single sweep. The square is most atmospheric at sunrise and at dusk, when the Arno reflects the sky and the city's floodlit monuments become visible.
