The second-smallest of the five Cinque Terre villages, Manarola clings to a ridge above a small harbour on the Ligurian coast. Its tightly stacked coloured buildings—painted in ochre, terracotta, and yellow—cascade down to a rocky inlet used by local fishing boats. The classic viewpoint is reached by a ten-minute walk along the Punta Bonfiglio path, from which the entire village can be framed against the Ligurian Sea.
