The southernmost of the Cinque Terre villages, Riomaggiore is built along a narrow gorge running down to a rocky cove. Dark-painted boats are stored on rails above the sea, and the main street—Via Colombo—winds steeply between tall houses. The castle above the village offers an elevated perspective over the coloured rooftops and the open sea, particularly effective at blue hour.
