Often considered the most picturesque of the Cinque Terre villages, Vernazza has a natural harbour sheltered by a medieval watchtower, the only true port among the five settlements. The piazza at the harbour's edge is ringed by gelato shops and trattorias facing the sea. The trail north toward Corniglia and south toward Monterosso al Mare passes through terraced vineyards with repeated views back to the village.
