A stave church in Lærdal municipality dating from approximately 1180 CE, considered one of the finest and most intact examples of Norwegian stave church architecture. The building displays the characteristic multi-tiered wooden construction, carved dragonhead finials at the roof ridges, and a free-standing log bell tower immediately adjacent. It has never been substantially altered or extended, making it a particularly pure specimen of its type.
