A national park in central Norway containing the highest mountains in Scandinavia, including Galdhøpiggen at 2,469 metres and Glittertind at 2,465 metres. The park covers roughly 3,500 square kilometres of glaciers, moraine fields, alpine lakes, and U-shaped valleys, intersected by the Jotunheimen Road and the Sognefjell mountain road. The Besseggen ridge in the eastern section of the park is among Norway's most walked hiking routes.
