Tórshavn is the capital and largest town of the Faroe Islands, built around a small boat harbour on the southern coast of Streymoy. The historic old town district of Tinganes, a narrow peninsula separating the two natural harbours, preserves a compact cluster of wooden houses with grass roofs that constitute one of the oldest continuously occupied government seats in the world. The city is small enough to explore on foot but serves as the hub for ferry connections to all other islands.

Where next?

The world is wide open.
