Seongsu Bridge is a road bridge spanning the Han River in Seoul, connecting the Seongdong and Gangnam districts. Opened in 1979, it became infamous for a catastrophic collapse of one of its spans in 1994, a disaster that prompted sweeping reforms of construction oversight and safety inspection across South Korea. The bridge was fully rebuilt and reopened later in the decade. Today it carries commuter traffic across the river, and a small memorial recalls the victims.
