The Viveros de Coyoacán is a large public nursery and park in the south of Mexico City, established in the early twentieth century to supply trees for the capital's green spaces. It remains a working nursery while doubling as a popular recreation ground, its long shaded avenues filled each morning with runners and walkers. Rows of cultivated trees and shrubs stretch across the grounds, and squirrels move freely among the visitors. The park is protected as a natural area within the dense urban fabric.
