The Kasbah Mosque, also known as the Mansuriyya or El Mansour Mosque, stands in the royal Kasbah quarter of Marrakesh near the Saadian Tombs. Built in the late twelfth century under the Almohad caliph Yaqub al-Mansur, it is one of the oldest mosques in the city after the Koutoubia. Its minaret, decorated with a lattice of interlacing arches and green and white tile, is a fine example of Almohad ornament. Repeatedly restored, it served the royal citadel and remains a landmark at the southern edge of the medina.
