The Parliament House of Finland is a monumental building completed in 1931 on a rise along Mannerheimintie in central Helsinki. Its facade of fourteen tall columns in reddish granite lends it a stern, classicising dignity characteristic of interwar Nordic architecture. Behind the colonnade lies a circular debating chamber and a sequence of committee rooms. The building has hosted the unicameral legislature for nearly a century. Guided tours introduce visitors to the session hall and preserved period interiors.
