This striking statue in the Pancoran district, popularly called the Pancoran Man, depicts a figure with outstretched arms symbolising the courage of Indonesian aviation. Commissioned by President Sukarno and completed in 1970, the bronze form is mounted on a tall pillar rising above a major intersection in the south of the city. Its dynamic pose and elevated placement make it a dramatic landmark visible from surrounding roads. The monument celebrates the ambitions of the young nation's air force.
