An ethnographic museum in Prague's Old Town devoted to the cultures of Asia, Africa and the Americas. It grew from the collections of the nineteenth-century patriot Vojtěch Náprstek, who promoted science and public education. Displays present objects from indigenous peoples of the Americas, Pacific societies and Asian civilisations. The museum began as a technological collection before shifting toward world cultures. Its historic building preserves the atmosphere of a Victorian-era cabinet of gathered curiosities and study.
