A museum in the apartment where the founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, lived and practised for nearly half a century. He received patients and wrote his major works here before fleeing the Nazi annexation of Austria in 1938. The rooms preserve his waiting room and study, along with documents, photographs, letters and personal objects. Displays trace the development of psychoanalysis and Freud's circle. A research library and changing exhibitions extend the museum's exploration of the mind and its influence on modern thought.
