This large public park wraps around the volcanic cone of One Tree Hill and was gifted to the people of Auckland by businessman John Logan Campbell in the 1900s. It retains a rural character, with grazing cattle and sheep, avenues of mature trees, and heritage buildings including the colonial Acacia Cottage, one of the city's oldest wooden houses. Walking and cycling paths cross the open pastures, and an information centre explains the park's Maori and colonial history. It remains a popular spot for picnics and weekend outings.
