This modernist concert hall on St Georges Terrace overlooks the Swan River in central Perth and is the principal home of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Opened in 1973, its board-marked concrete exterior and raised podium are characteristic of the brutalist architecture of the period. The auditorium is prized for its acoustics, achieved partly through adjustable panels, and hosts orchestral concerts, recitals and a large pipe organ. Set among city towers with river views from its terraces, the hall remains a leading venue for classical.
