These volcanic rock cliffs rise from the Brisbane River on the Kangaroo Point peninsula, directly opposite the city centre. Formed from ancient tuff and quarried in colonial times, the exposed faces are now a popular spot for abseiling and rock climbing, with bolted routes and floodlights allowing evening climbs. A riverside parkland at the base offers barbecue areas, walking paths and one of the best views of the Brisbane skyline. Boardwalks connect the cliffs to the Story Bridge and the city botanic gardens across the water.
