This large observation wheel stands in the South Bank parklands on the southern shore of the Brisbane River, opposite the central business district. Installed for the anniversary of a world exposition once held on the site, it carries enclosed air-conditioned gondolas that rotate to give panoramic views over the river, the city towers and the surrounding hills. Rising above the riverside promenade and cultural precinct, it has become a familiar feature of the South Bank skyline, particularly when lit at night.
