Popularly known as the Iglesia de los Salesianos or Iglesia del Cordón, this neo-Gothic church rises near Avenida 18 de Julio in central Montevideo. Its tall spire, pointed arches and richly detailed facade make it one of the most striking religious buildings in the capital. Built in the early twentieth century, it was associated with the Salesian order and its educational works. The luminous interior, with slender columns and stained glass, offers a contrast to the busy commercial streets surrounding it.
