Rising about 224 metres over the Monumental Axis, this broadcasting tower was designed by Lúcio Costa and inaugurated in 1967. A free observation deck around 75 metres up offers a panoramic view along the length of the planned city, taking in the ministries, the cathedral and the residential superblocks. At its base a landscaped square hosts a weekend craft and food fair that draws locals and visitors. The lattice steel structure, lit at night, serves as a central reference point on Brasília's east-west spine.
